Clinical Interest
Dr. Hassan has 25 years of experience in clinical geriatrics, providing inpatient, primary care and consultative services in the outpatient setting. Dr. Hassan is the Medical Director of Canterbury Place, a UPMC long term care facility. He is a course director for Pittsburgh`s largest annual medical conference, The Clinical Update in Geriatric Medicine, and is the geriatrician for the Hospital Elder Life Program, a delirium prevention program at UPMC Shadyside.
Educational Interest
Dr. Hassan precepts residents and medical students in his outpatient geriatric medicine practice, focusing on syndromes that are common in the elderly including Dementia, Depression and Falls. He teaches medical students in their 1st and 2nd years proper physical examination. Additionally, he has won the William M. Cooper Teaching Excellence award voted by residents in Internal Medicine.
