Medical School

Division faculty members have extensive roles in all phases of the education of medical students. Faculty members in the division hold major administrative roles, teach and direct courses, and precept and mentor students throughout their four years of medical school. Twenty faculty members within the Division are members of the Academy of Master Educators, an elected 5-year honor that signifies excellence in education. In addition, Division members continue to direct and serve on the advisory board for the Clinical Scientist Training Program (CSTP), which offers clinical research training and scholarships to medical students who are committed to careers in clinical investigation.

The Division also directs the Adult Inpatient Medicine Clerkship (AIMC), the Combined Ambulatory Medicine and Pediatrics Clerkship (CAMPC), and the Internal Medicine Acting Internship. AIMC is an 8-week inpatient rotation, the longest inpatient experience in the clinical curriculum, and is considered the cornerstone of clinical education in the School of Medicine. CAMPC is an 8-week combined ambulatory course that provides students with 4-week experiences in medicine and pediatrics. The Internal Medicine Acting Internship is a 4-week course in which fourth-year medical students serve in the role of intern for patients on the Internal Medicine inpatient wards.
