Education and Training

The Section of Hospital Medicine is dedicated to providing outstanding education and training to our residents, fellows and medical students.

The Division, alongside the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, offers multiple training opportunities.

Hospitalists serve as teaching attending in the General Internal Medicine Residency Program, which is one of the top programs in the country with a commitment to training the next generation of leaders in medicine.

The following training opportunities are available for physicians who have completed their residency training:

Master’s degree programs in Medical Education and Clinical Research are available through the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE). Programs are geared toward medical students, residents, doctoral students, and other graduate students. The ICRE focuses on the training and career development of clinical and translational scientists at each stage, ranging from brief experiences in research to participation in doctoral degree programs.
