We are particularly interested in candidates in health services research, clinical epidemiology, health disparities, decision sciences, and comparative effectiveness. We will hire at the academic rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor in the tenure stream. The salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications. Clinician Researcher – Decision Science

The Section of Decision Science, Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, is seeking clinician investigators. The successful candidate will have a record of advanced training in research or academic productivity with a focus on decision science and decision analytic/cost-effectiveness modeling.

The University of Pittsburgh is 5th nationally among in NIH funding, with strong growth over the last 10 years. Its Division of General Internal Medicine is a renowned incubator of research talent, with a 100% K award rate for junior research faculty, a strong K to R01 conversion rate, and a history of producing leaders in research and beyond. Members of the Section of Decision Sciences, now directed by Amber Barnato, MD, MPH, MS, have been honored as teachers and mentors, while leading strong research programs in the broad scope of decision science.

Incumbents will join a dynamic, collaborative group of clinicians, educators and researchers, and will be included as core faculty in the University of Pittsburgh Center for Research on Health Care. In addition, they can enjoy close ties with the Pitt Graduate School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management (Chair, Mark Roberts, MD, MPP) and the Center for Health Policy and Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing. Section of Decision Science members also have active research collaborations with Carnegie Mellon University, RAND Pittsburgh, and a broad range of multidisciplinary researchers throughout the University of Pittsburgh.

Regarding clinical practice, its scope may include direct care of patients in the primary care clinic and/or hospital, as well as oversight of the education and training of residents and medical students in the inpatient or outpatient setting.

Academic rank will be Assistant, Associate Professor or Professor level in the tenure stream. Salary and appointment commensurate with qualifications.
