Research Interest
Her research interests include street medicine, dementia in Down Syndrome, and mindfulness and low back pain.
Clinical Interest
Dr. White is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and core faculty of Internal Medicine & Pediatrics. She is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics and sees patients at Shea Medical Center and Turtle Creek Primary Care Clinic. In addition, Dr. White sees adult patients with Down Syndrome at Shea Medical Center with the Down Syndrome Center of Western Pennsylvania. She is the medical director of the student group, Street Medicine at Pitt. She is interested in transitions in adults with childhood illnesses to adult primary care, including adult survivors of childhood cancers.
Educational Interest
Dr. White is interested in medical education of medical students and residents and has won several awards, including the Walter W. Tunnessen, Jr., MD, Award; the Best Housestaff Teacher in Internal Medicine (twice); the General Academic Pediatrics Award; the Jeffrey S. Farkas, MD, Memorial Pediatric Intern Teaching Award; and the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching “Little Apple” Award. She also served as the med-peds chief resident during her fourth year of residency. Dr. White enjoys her time spent in patient care and in numerous teaching activities, including teaching Advanced Physical Exam, Introduction to Medical Interviewing and Advanced Medical Interviewing at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, precepting residents and medical students in clinic, and teaching (and learning from) residents and medical students on the wards. She also enjoys serving as a resident academic advisor.
