Leadership Changes in Medicine Education

Reed Van Deusen, MD, MS, has assumed the role of Medical Director of the Standardized Patient Program at the School of Medicine. This is a major leadership role for the Division and provides a unique learning opportunity to medical students.

Alexandra Mieczkowski, MD, has been named Associate Program Director for the Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Training Program, which is currently one of the best med-peds residencies in the country.

Alda Maria Gonzaga, MD, MS, Director of the Medicine-Pediatrics Program, has assumed Hollis Day’s role as Advisory Dean for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Gonzaga will provide support, advocacy, mentorship and advice to students throughout their four years of medical school

Anna Donovan, MD, MS, has been named Associate Program Director for Inpatient Medicine, a role previously held by Jennifer Corbelli. Dr. Donovan will be responsible for advancing the inpatient education mission of the residency training program, including the curriculum, teaching evaluations, and mentoring and advising residents.

Jennifer Corbelli, MD, MS, has been named Program Director for the Internal Medicine Training Program, a position previously held by Shanta Zimmer, MD, who left the University in June. Dr. Corbelli has been a member of the core faculty since 2011 and has served as the Associate Program Director for Inpatient Medicine. She presents regularly on innovations in medical education at the Association of Program Directors of Internal Medicine and SGIM meetings and has been nationally recognized for her research and education presentations.
