Announcements and Tidbits

Health Policy Journal Club

The Health Policy Journal Club is a collaborative effort of the general internal medicine residents and faculty and is sponsored by the Consortium of Global Health and General Internal Medicine Tracks. Discussion sessions are held monthly and are led by residents and faculty. Medical and lay literatures are included.

The first session of the Health Policy Journal Club was held on October 2, 2009, and Wishwa Kapoor, MD, MPH, was the meeting facilitator. The article discussed was "The Cost Conundrum" by Atul Gawande.

Upcoming sessions will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Berkman Board Room (next to LHAS) on the following dates:

  • March 10, 2010
  • April 14, 2010
  • May 12, 2010
  • June 9, 2010

Birth Announcements

Linda King, husband Jeff Salipante, and sons Kevin and Brian announced the arrival of twin girls on August 18, 2009. Bridget Elan Salipante was born at 3:58 p.m., weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Megan Elise Salipante was born at 4:00 p.m., weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Linda says, "It's very hard to tell them apart!"

Shelley Rowe and husband Tom Rowe announced the birth of their son, Owen Thomas Rowe, on September 6, 2009. Owen weighed 9 pounds and was nearly 22 inches long at birth.

Molly Conroy and Adam Gordon, along with daughter Lilly, were happy to announce the birth of twins on September 29, 2009. Neil Gordon Conroy was born first, at 12:06 p.m. He weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and was 19.25 inches long. Martha (Mattie) Gordon Conroy came next, at 12:08 p.m., and she weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and was 19.50 inches long.

Paige Hepple and John Fetter announced the arrival of their son, Graham Liam Pierce Fetter, on October 2, 2009. Graham weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and was 22 inches long.

Bethany Nordman and husband Cory Nordman are thankful for the healthy arrival of their son, Noah Robert Nordman, on October 15, 2009. Noah weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 20 inches long at birth.

Kishore Vipperla and wife Priyanka Vallabhaneni were happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Vaishnavi, on November 14, 2009, just a few minutes after midnight. Vaishnavi weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 21 inches long at birth.
