Welcome to Full-Time MD Faculty

Jennifer Corbelli, MD, joined the Division of General Internal Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Jennifer received a bachelor of arts from Cornell University before attending the University Of Rochester School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine women's health track residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Following her year as chief medical resident, she has spent the last two years at the University of Pittsburgh and Veterans Affairs Medical Center in a medical education fellowship and will receive her MS degree in medical education in August 2013.

Scott Freeman, MD, joined the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics on August 1, 2013. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of UPMC's fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Scott completed his medical school training at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY and his internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Subsequently, he spent a year as a hospitalist at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.

Michelle C. Freeman, MD, joined the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics on July 1, 2013. She is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Michelle completed her medical school training at Albany Medical College, internal medicine-pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh, and hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in medical education at the University of Pittsburgh.

Rebecca Hostetler MD, MA, was hired as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. Rebecca attended Northwestern University where she earned a bachelor of arts degree before attending Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. There she acquired a master of arts degree in medical humanities and bioethics as well as her medical degree. She did her residency at UPMC in the internal medicine-generalist track.

Lisa Podgurski, MD, joined the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics on July 1, 2013. She is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Lisa completed her undergraduate studies in bio-psych and anthropology at Carnegie Mellon University, medical school training at Harvard Medical School and Internal Medicine Residency training at UPMC. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in medical education at the University of Pittsburgh.

Aditi Puri, MD, was hired as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Aditi received a bachelor of science from Birmingham Southern College and then went to the University Of Alabama School of Medicine. After medical school, she completed her internal medicine residency training at University of North Caroline-Chapel Hill.

E. Raymund Ramirez, MD, is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Raymund did his undergraduate work at the Indiana University-College of Arts and Sciences where he earned a bachelor of science degree. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he went to UPMC for his internal medicine residency training.

Ritu Soni, MD, is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Ritu received an MBBS from Baroday Medical College, Maharaja Sayajirao University in India. She did her internal medicine residency and a fellowship in nephrology at UPMC before joining the division.

Jason A. Sims, MD, is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Jason received a bachelor of science from Carnegie Mellon University before going to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After completing medical school, Jason did his internal medicine residency at UPMC.

Andrew Thurston, MD, joined the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics on August 15, 2013. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Andrew completed his medical school training at the Baylor College of Medicine and his residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He subsequently completed a geriatrics fellowship and a palliative medicine fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Samantha Vogt, MD, MPH, is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Samantha received a bachelor of science from the University of Tampa. She received her master of public health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and her medical school training from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Samantha went to UPMC for her internal medicine residency-global health track.

Katherine E. Willoughby, MD, is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Hospitalist program. Katherine received a bachelor of science from the University of Pittsburgh before receiving her medical school training at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She did her internal medicine residency-women's health track at UPMC.
