Faculty and Staff Updates

Welcome Aboard

Derricka Duke first joined the UPMC team as a temporary employee with UPMC's WorkSource in October 2010. She became a permanent employee with the Division of General Internal Medicine in July 2011. Derricka has many years of experience working in customer service.

Connor Hestdalen recently joined the Division of General Internal Medicine as an academic assistant to Drs. Melissa McNeil and Scott Herrle. He will help coordinate the Women's Health Program and the Advanced Physical Examination (APE) course for first-year and second-year medical students. Connor worked previously at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, the May Law Group in Pittsburgh, and the University of Chicago.

Mary Ann Ritter was hired in June 2011 as the administrative assistant to Joanne Riley, administrator of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Mary Ann has 14 years of experience in various administrative positions at Giant Eagle, Inc.

Tara Rohall, BA, joined the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE) staff in July 2011 as the predoctoral program coordinator. She will provide administrative support to two medical student career development programs, the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship and the Clinical Scientist Training Program. She will also coordinate the Clinical Scientist Track for residents and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute's TL1 predoctoral fellowship program. Tara earned her BA in history from Pitt and worked previously in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor.

Ali Stellfox became a general medical education manager in the Department of Medicine's Office of Education in April 2011. Ali received her BS in health policy administration in 2010 from Penn State University. She was previously an intern in the Office of Medical Staff Services at UPMC Passavant and most recently worked as a claims and document review specialist in the Flexible Spending Account Division at Highmark.

Tashia Terry was hired in August 2011 as a patient information coordinator. Before she accepted this position, she worked for All Temps, the University of Pittsburgh temporary work agency, and supported the clinic by covering Firm 2. Tashia has 11 years of experience working for the Bank of New York Mellon.

Relaxing into Retirement

Del Gannon is retiring from the University of Pittsburgh on August 31, 2011. Del has been working in the Division of General Internal Medicine since 1991. She is currently a systems programmer in the Center for Research on Health Care (CRHC) Data Center. We thank Del for her many contributions and her commitment to the University over the years, and we wish her all the best in retirement.
