Changes at the ICRE and Shea Medical

Dr. Kapoor made the following announcement: "I am pleased to announce the creation of the Center for Medical Education Research within the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE). This Center will promote scholarly activities in medical education, mentoring of fellows and faculty and developing training programs in distance education in medical education research. The Center will use the resources of the ICRE to build these programs. I am also pleased that Michael Elnicki has accepted the position of Director of this Center. Mike brings a wealth of experience and national reputation to lead this Center. He will collaborate with the leadership of the ICRE and the MS for medical education. He will have an office and presence in the Parkvale ICRE space.

As part of his new role, Mike will be relinquishing his role as the Section Chief of General Internal Medicine at Shadyside. I am grateful for all of his contributions in leading the clinical and educational missions at Shadyside. He will continue to remain active in his patient care activities, medical student and residency teaching at Shadyside and in the School of Medicine.

Moving forward, the Section at Shadyside will merge with our activities in Oakland. We will integrate our inpatient and outpatient activities to be very similar. The faculty from Shadyside will have clinical and teaching roles in the Oakland practice. Similarly, the faculty from the Oakland site will have roles in the outpatient and inpatient practice and education at Shadyside.

I am looking forward to the integration and alignment of the two groups. Please join me in congratulating Mike for his new role."
