Third Annual PittMed Auction Boosts Funding to Birmingham Free Clinic

The Third Annual PittMed Auction to Benefit the Birmingham Free Clinic was held on March 4, 2011, and was a huge success. The Program for Health Care to Underserved Populations (PHCUP) extends its heartfelt thanks to the amazing PittMed Student Auction Committee and emcees, to the faculty who sponsored the event, and to everyone who donated or bid on an item.

The $3,900 raised during the auction will help meet the goals of the PHCUP, a volunteer-driven organization. One of these goals is to provide medications at no cost to uninsured patients who visit the Birmingham Free Clinic. Last year, the program medication expenses were $1,190. Just in the first 9 months of this current fiscal year, the PHCUP has raised enough to exceed that amount.

The generosity of donors to the PHCUP—contributing in funds and services—goes very far in helping to increase the number of patients who receive the vital care they need. On behalf of the patients served, the PHCUP says thank you!
