Education and Training
Education
BS, Yale University, 1983
MD, Harvard Medical School, 1987
Training
Internal Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, 1988
Cardiology, Massachusetts General Hospital, 1993
Research Interest
Research interest focus on the impact of genomics on clinical outcomes, and the use of genetic variation for targeting therapeutic interventions. In addition the use of genetic background and biomarker assessment for predicting myocardial recovery in recent onset non-ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Clinical Interest
Actively involved in clinical care of subjects with heart failure. In particular our clinical practice has a particular interest in recent onset non-ischemic cardiomyopathy including women with peripartum cardiomyopathy. In addition we care for subjects with advanced heart failure referred for possible cardiac transplantation or left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. We also care for subjects with signifciant pulmonary hypertension.
Educational Interest
We are actively involved in the training of cardiology fellows in advanced heart failure and the management of pulmonary hypertension. Training encompasses the management of subjects on left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) as well as those post cardiac transplantation.
