Research Interest
Dr. Fernandes' research involves travel-related infections, tuberculosis, and infections due to Staphylococcus aureus.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Fernandes is part of the General Infectious Diseases service at UPMC, treating patients with infections such as endocarditis, osteomyelitis and postoperative infections. Her special interest is in treating travel-related infections, tuberculosis and infections due to Staphylococcus aureus.
Educational Interest
Dr. Fernandes is involved in medical education for medical students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and residents and fellows at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Fernandes was chosen as the recipient of the ID Fellow's Faculty Teaching Award for 2021.
