Welcome to Full-Time PhD Faculty

Kaleab Z. Abebe, PhD, assistant professor of medicine, was recruited as a statistician. Dr. Abebe earned a BA in mathematics in 2003 from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana. He earned an MA in statistics in 2006 and a PhD in statistics in 2009 from the University of Pittsburgh. While working on his dissertation, Dr. Abebe held teaching fellow positions at the Institute for Clinical Research Education and also worked as a graduate student researcher at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.

Douglas Landsittel, PhD, associate professor of medicine, was recruited as a statistician. In 1992, Dr. Landsittel received a BS in applied mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1997, he received a PhD in biostatistics, also from the University of Pittsburgh. Since that time, he has held a variety of academic positions, serving as a lecturer and part-time faculty member at the University of Phoenix, Pittsburgh, as associate director of biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, and as a research assistant professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh. During the past 5 years, Dr. Landsittel has served as an assistant professor (tenure track) in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Duquesne University.
