Tenure and Promotions


Congratulations to Said A. Ibrahim, MD, MPH, who was awarded tenure. Dr. Ibrahim is an associate professor of medicine; chief of the Section of Health Care Disparities and International Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine; a core faculty member of the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion; an associate editor of the American Journal of Public Health; and the principal investigator of several research projects funded by the VA and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

In 1993, Dr. Ibrahim received his MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. In 1996, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. In 1999, he earned an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Ibrahim has received numerous awards, including the Harold Amos Faculty Development Award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a Career Development Award from the VA Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D), and a K24 award from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). His research focuses on the impact that race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and culture have on health care access, utilization, and outcomes.
