The Renal-Electrolyte Division consists of 30 full-time faculty members (19 physicians and 11 PhD scientists) and twelve nephrology fellows. The Renal-Electrolyte Division Fellowship Program is two to three years in length. The first year is devoted to clinical training, and the second year is devoted to research and scholarly activities in either clinical or basic science aspects of nephrology. An optional third year is available for candidates who wish to pursue further research opportunities, but dependent on independent funding.

UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Shadyside, the Veterans Administration of Pittsburgh Health Care System, and DCI of Oakland and Squirrel Hill (the outpatient dialysis centers) are our primary training sites. We also serve as consultants at Magee Women's Hospital and at the Western Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute, facilities located in Pittsburgh's Oakland section, within walking distance of the Medical School.
