Profile
Dr. Paul M. Palevsky is Professor of Medicine in the Renal-Electrolyte Division and Chief of the Renal Section at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Dr. Palevsky’s main research interests focus on the prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury and the management of renal replacement therapy in acute and chronic kidney disease. He is the Study Chairman of the VA/NIH Acute Renal Failure Trial Network Study which compared intensive to less-intensive management of renal replacement therapy in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury. Other areas of research include progression of CKD, management of symptoms in patients with CKD and ESRD and implementation of quality improvement in chronic kidney disease and ESRD. He chairs the RPA Quality, Safety and Accountability Committee and is President of ESRD Network 4. He is a member of the editorial boards of the CJASN, NephSAP, ACCP-SEEK/Critical Care Medicine, UpToDate and Blood Purification.
