2007 - Gannon University - Biotechnology
2012 - University of Pittsburgh - MD

John graduated from Gannon University in Erie, PA, in 2007 with a degree in biotechnology. He received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 and subsequently joined the Research Residency program in Internal Medicine at UPMC. During his undergraduate medical education, John was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Allan Tsung and studied the role of damage associated molecular patterns and innate immune activation in pathogenesis of hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury. After completing his clinical training, he plans to enter the laboratory of Dr. Rama Mallampalli to study the role of proteolysis in acute lung injury.  In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and his hobbies include triathlons, cycling, and running.

Research Interests

Mechanisms of Acute Lung Injury
Innate Immunity in Acute Lung Injury
