Research Interest
Dr. Silveira is interested in clinical research that promotes the health of the patients in her care. As such, some of her projects include the study of the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine in preventing hospital admissions; clinical trials of new agents to treat respiratory viral infections in the immunocompromised; and clinical trials of new agents for the treatment of CMV.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Silveira's clinical interest is in infectious in organ transplant recipients, particularly respiratory virus infections, infections due to resistant CMV and fungal infections.
Educational Interest
Dr. Silveira is the director of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) component of the Medical Microbiology course. She is also interested in teaching of Transplant Infectious Diseases to residents, fellows and general ID practitioners. She participated in the development of the recommended curriculum for training in Transplant Infectious Diseases. She is frequently asked to speak on different topics in Transplant Infectious Diseases at national and international webinars and conferences.
