Profile
Dr. Fisher is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. He divides his time between clinical practice in Geriatric Medicine and conducting basic science research aimed at improving our understanding of the biologic changes that accompany aging. Ultimately, he is interested in how aging interacts with medical illnesses to create the unique clinical syndromes seen in older patients, like falls and delirium. Dr. Fisher is interested in the geriatric syndromes of sarcopenia and frailty. Both of these syndromes are remarkably also observed in C. elegans. He has funded R01 grants to examine the regulation of proteosomal function in cellular stress and aging and to study sarcopenia in C. elegans.
