Profile
Dr. Goodpaster is an Assistant Professor. He was originally trained as an exercise physiologist, and competed on the professional bicycle tour in Europe. He has also participated in a diabetes-related expedition to Antarctica in 2002.
Dr. Goodpaster's current research topics (funded by the ADA and NIH)include:
1) Skeletal muscle composition in obesity, type 2 diabetes and aging
2) In vivo substrate metabolism in obesity, type 2 diabetes and aging
3) Effects of exercise training on skeletal muscle metabolism in obesity and in the elderly
4) Muscle structure and function in aging and in patients with osteoarthritis
