Research Interest
Dr. Ullal's clinical research interests include inpatient diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis-related endocrinopathies, and type 3c diabetes. Additional research interests include transplant diabetes, islet transplantation, diabetes technology, and electronic glucose management.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Ullal's clinical interests include Cystic Fibrosis endocrinology and diabetes, transplate-related diabetes, and total pancreatectomy followed by islet cell transplantation. His additional clinical interests include inpatient diabetes, thyroid cancer, thyroid ultrasonography, and thyroid biopsies. Dr. Ullal is the Co-Chair of the Diabetes Patient Safety Committee at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Educational Interest
Dr. Ullal is the Director of the Medical Student Clinical Experience in Inpatient Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (Course MED 5460). He is a faculty member in the Advanced Physical Examination Course for first and second year medical students and one of the faculty members involved in the Endocrine Disorders Course for medical students.
