Clinical Interest
Dr. Heather Brooks has clinical interest in all areas of general endocrinology and diabetes both type 1 and type 2. Specifically she does have expertise in thyroid nodules and thyroid nodule biopsies. She sees patients with all thyroid disorders including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid disease in pregnancy. She enjoys seeing patients with pituitary disorders and adrenal disorders. She is happy to do evaluation of hypercalcemia and parathyroid disorders. She can evaluate and treat complex osteoporosis patients. She also sees type 1 diabetes patients including management with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
Educational Interest
Dr. Heather Brooks values her role as an educator - teaching lectures on thyroid anatomy and physiology and hypothyroidism in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She also has served as a preceptor for outpatient endocrine fellow continuity clinic and internal medicine resident endocrine outpatient rotation clinical mentor. She also rotates approximately 8 weeks on the inpatient endocrinology and diabetes service overseeing the education of fellows, residents and medical students.
