Research Interest
Dr. Bui's research is on global health workforce and training, point-of-care-ultrasound in resource-limited settings, racism in medicine and interventions to address social determinants of health.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Bui's clinical focus is on caring for high-need, complex and disenfranchised individuals including those who are homeless, recent immigrants and refugees and uninsured. She has been volunteering at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Malawi since 1995.
Educational Interest
Since 2007, Dr. Bui serves as director of the Global Health and Underserved Populations Track of UPMC's internal medicine residency. She has also mentored several medical students and residents on projects related to social determinants of health, quality improvement, and global health education. She heads the reflective essay contest sponsored by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH). Since 2018, she directs the Social Medicine Scholars/Fellows Program at UPSOM. Lastly, she is an active member and contributor of the clinical reasoning workgroup.
