RENAL SUPPORTIVE CARE CLINIC

Jane Schell, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine trained in nephrology and palliative medicine, sees patients with physical or psychological needs related to kidney disease and helps address treatment decisions related to their kidney disease. Palliative care includes symptom management, decision making, and advance care planning at any point along the disease trajectory. It can address end of life and hospice care if appropriate.

The Renal Supportive Care (RSC) Clinic is for patients with chronic kidney disease (any stage) or renal failure, patients on dialysis or with a transplant, and those with special needs that require palliative care expertise. Patients can be referred from both outpatient and inpatient care settings.

Patients who would benefit from the RSC Clinic include those who may need assistance with:

Patients can be seen in the RSC Clinic for a single visit or long-term care. The duration of care is referral and patient specific. A patient who is already seeing a nephrologist may continue to do so while being seen in the RSC Clinic for consultant care.

Appointments are available on Tuesday afternoons.

For questions, more information, or consults and referrals, please contact Dr. Schell:
