Fellowship Training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship is a three-year program, and time is equally divided between clinical and research training. Each fellow receives 18 months of clinical training followed by 18 months of training in biomedical research. Since the goal of the fellowship is to prepare physicians for a career in academic Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, an additional year of research training is available and is strongly encouraged. Trainees also participate in outpatient clinics at the Oakland VA Medical Center, and the Comprehensive Lung Center throughout the fellowship.
