Research Interest
Dr. Tejero's research is focused on the reactions of nitrite and nitric oxide with heme proteins. The nitrite-heme reactions are of growing interest because of their role in nitric oxide signaling pathways and because they play a significant role in physiological and pathological situations. His current research is aimed at understanding and characterizing the chemical and kinetic features of the reactions of nitrite with hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytoglobin and neuroglobin.
