HIV-Associated Lung Disease

The HIV Clinical Center is comprised of pulmonary physicians within the Comprehensive Lung Center who evaluate and treat HIV-infected patients with a range of pulmonary disorders.  Special attention in this population is needed both to diagnose and treat lung disease.   The investigative component of this program is run by the University of Pittsburgh HIV Lung Research Center.

The center is directed by Dr. Alison Morris with contributions from Drs. Matthew Gingo, and Meghan Fitzpatrick.  The center studies lung diseases that are more common or more rapidly progressive in HIV including emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, and asthma.  Studies of novel treatments for HIV-infected patients with lung disease are also performed.
