WHAT YOU’RE DOING NOW

I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I am highly involved in our internal medicine residency program, coordinating our inpatient rotations, and teaching in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I am also involved in our faculty development course on medical education. I am conducting several medical education research projects, both as primary investigator and well as a mentor. I have received several teaching awards at the residency program and institutional level.

REFLECTIONS ON YOUR TRAINING

Completing the fellowship program and earning a master’s degree in medical education has positioned me to be successful in my current academic position. The program offered me classes and structured mentorship in how to be a better educator and education researcher. I had the opportunity to improve my teaching skills in multiple settings and to interact with and observe wonderful educators. I developed skills in qualitative research and was able to conduct several projects that have led to presentations and workshops at national meetings as well as publications.
