Research Interest
Dr. Jiménez Gutiérrez's current research projects focus on CMV seropositivity in HIV-negative participants of the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study and hospital readmissions.
Clinical Interest
Elena Jiménez Gutiérrez, MD, joined the division of General Internal Medicine at UPMC in 2016. She is currently a nighttime hospitalist in the Section of Hospital Medicine with a special interest in global health and underserved populations. During her residency, Dr. Jiménez Gutiérrez served as a volunteer and coordinator at the Birmingham Free Clinic, providing health-care services at no cost to the uninsured population of Pittsburgh.
Educational Interest
Dr. Jiménez Gutiérrez will serve as a faculty preceptor for internal medicine residents completing their night float rotation. Her educational interests include Hospital Medicine, Underserved Populations, and Global Health. During her residency, she participated in creating case-based modules for a curriculum on primary care for LGBT patients for the UPMC Internal Medicine Residency. She is currently drafting case-based modules for a curriculum on primary care for the medical students of the Catholic University of Mozambique at São Lucas Health Center in Beira, Mozambique.
