ICRE Career Development Program Spotlight CEED Program for Medical Students

The Career Education and Enhancement for Health Care Diversity (CEED) program was first established in the ICRE as a career development program for junior faculty and postdoctoral trainees who are underrepresented minorities in academic medicine or the health sciences. Building on this successful foundation, in 2012, CEED was extended for the first time to include underrepresented minority medical students.

The CEED Program for Medical Students provides University of Pittsburgh third year medical students with a solid foundation with which to build a successful career in translational research. The program offers a diverse array of training opportunities to accomplish this goal, including funding to support costs associated with scholarly research projects, professional skill building sessions, networking opportunities with junior and senior investigators, and personalized goal planning with faculty mentors. The program currently has 8 medical students
