Changes in the Montefiore/Presbyterian Residency Office

Shanta Zimmer, MD, was recently appointed the new director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. Dr. Zimmer received her MD from Emory University and served as an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases there from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, she came to the University of Pittsburgh. She currently serves here as an associate professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, a consultant with the Division of Infectious Diseases, and a core faculty member of the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE). Before assuming her new tasks as the residency director, Dr. Zimmer also served as the director of the Translational Research Track in the Master of Science in Clinical Research Program.

Wendy Romeo, BS, is the new administrative director of the residency program. Wendy graduated from Northern Illinois University and has held a number of administrative support positions throughout her career. Most recently, she worked in the Division of General Medicine as program coordinator of the Palliative Care Fellowship Program.

Haylee Shacklock, MHA, is the new residency recruitment coordinator. Haylee received a BS in business administration from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and earned an MHA from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She previously worked for 4 years in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.
