Faculty and Staff Updates

New Faculty

Jaishree Hariharan, MD, MS, was recruited as a clinician-educator and visiting professor of medicine. Dr. Hariharan received an MBBS in 1980 and an MD in 1984 from the University of Bombay, India, and an MS in 1991 from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati in 1995 and served the following year as chief resident. Since 1996, Dr. Hariharan has worked as an assistant professor, associate professor, and, most recently, professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

New Staff

Marilyn Bayer, RN, BSN, has been appointed outpatient clinic manager at Shea Medical Center, where she oversees all aspects of operation of the internal medicine clinic at UPMC Shadyside. Marilyn received her RN from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1985 and her BSN from Chatham University in 2009. She most recently worked for the Physician Services Division.

Victoria Gilliam, MPH, joined the Institute for Clinical Research Education in December 2011 and will be working closely with Dr. Doris Rubio on the collection and analysis of evaluation data for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) programs. Victoria received an MPH from West Virginia University in May 2011 and has been involved in both research and public education in the area of reproductive health.

Melissa Knorr, BA, recently joined the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics as the coordinator of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and as an academic support coordinator.

Charlene Xie, MIS, transferred in February 2012 from the Department of Biomedical Informatics to the CRHC Data Center, where she now works as a senior systems analyst. Charlene earned her MIS degree from Robert Morris University and has 5 years of experience as a senior software engineer at the Medical University of South Carolina.
