3rd Integrative Conference on Technology, Social Media, and Behavioral Health

The Center for Behavioral Health and Smart Technology along with the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business hosted the 3rd Integrative Conference on Technology, Social Media, and Behavioral Health at the University Club on November 3, 2017. With over 230 registered attendees from Pitt’s Schools of the Health Sciences, the Katz Graduate School of Business, the School of Computing and Information, UPMC, Carnegie Mellon University, and the local health care start-up community, this year’s cross-disciplinary Conference was the biggest and best yet.

In addition to a variety of engaging speakers from Pitt and CMU, the Conference featured two Keynote Speakers: Dr. David Mohr, Director for the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games and Distinguished Professor at CMU’s Entertainment Technology Center. Dr. Mohr’s morning address was on “Achieving an Implementable Revolution in Digital Mental Health,” and Jesse Schell spoke about “Games for Health: Challenges and Opportunities.” The afternoon session focused on Katz’s Healthcare Executive MBA program and Pitt’s Innovation Institute. All speeches were illustrated by graphic artist Leah Silverman, whose work is displayed on the Center’s website, where you can also view videos of the presentations.

The day concluded with a Networking and Demo Session, which featured 18 innovative health software programs. Among these programs were the three winning games from the School of Computing and Information’s Games4Health Jam, hosted by Professor of Practice Dmitriy Babichenko one week prior to the Conference.

Thank you to those of you who joined us for this stimulating day of learning and networking, and we hope many of you will attend the 4th Integrative Conference next November!
